Aviation Maintenance and Aircraft Mechanic Training

Spartan’s FAA approved Aviation Maintenance Technology program has been training skilled aircraft technicians for over 80 years. Our aircraft mechanic courses will help prepare you for the Airframe and Powerplant certification (A&P License) required by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The importance of airplane maintenance cannot be denied. Aircraft technicians are the highly skilled, detail oriented individuals who keep the airways safe and the airplanes flying. Because of this aviation maintenance technicians are in high demand. For every one hundred hours that an aircraft is used for hire, it must go through a thorough aviation maintenance and inspection process. This aviation maintenance, combined with annual inspections and routine airplane maintenance repairs create a tremendous need for qualified licensed aviation maintenance technicians.

At Spartan, you can use the Pre and Post 911 G.I. Bill, V.A Rehabilitation or the Tuition Assistance Program to help pay for training.

A&P License

An Airframe and Powerplant License is required by those who inspect, maintain and repair aircraft. In Spartan’s aircraft mechanic school, not only will you gain the hands-on aviation training and knowledge needed to obtain your FAA A&P License, you will also gain the confidence and skills required for top job performance in an aviation maintenance career.

Spartan has instructors in the aircraft technician school that are approved to administer the oral and practical aviation mechanic tests required by the FAA. We also offer many other professional certification exams through our LaserGrade Testing System.

Aviation Maintenance Training

Our Aviation Maintenance Technology Programs include a diploma that can be completed in as little as 18 months and an associate of applied science degree that can be achieved in under two years.

Previous experience is not required, as our aircraft mechanic courses will provide training in everything from changing a tire to rebuilding a turbine engine. You will also learn about all types of aircraft from a small engine airplane to a large transport airplane like those used by major airlines. Students will complete aviation mechanic training in a variety of areas:

* Hydraulics and Pneumatics
* Ignition and Electrical Systems
* Fuel Systems
* Pressurization
* Aircraft Welding
* Turbine-prop and Jet Engines
